Wood pellets from Vietnam to South Korea – Dramatic increase

South Korea is one of the world’s fastest growing markets for wood pellets, with imports soaring from 122,000 tonnes in 2012 to 1.85 million tonnes in 2014. Vietnam is the largest supplier of wood pellets to South Korea, with exports jumping from only 33,000 tonnes in 2012 to 745,000 tonnes in 2014. Through the first four months of 2015, exports of wood pellets from Vietnam increased another 27%. The biggest woodchip exporter from Vietnam and one of the biggest wood pellet exporters is Hao Hung Co., Ltd. Mr. Thang Van Hoa, the General Director of Hao Hung.

“This wood pellet plant is built in Vietnam, the maximum capacity is 32ton/h. but the customer does not want to make it full load, since he wants to have 8 of them as standby. So the actual production capacity of this plant is 20ton/h. The customer has wood chips as raw material. This wood pellet plant is composed by: log splitter, chipper, crusher, dryer, conveyor, storage bin, BPM508 wood pellet machine, cooler, packing machine, etc.”
