Bergkvist-Insjön AB, is Sweden’s largest family owned forest industry and is running a high quality sawmill with laminated wood as one speciality and also managing a large forest area in the middle of Sweden. 85 percent of the sawmill products are exported, Japan is the largest market.
Bergkvist-Insjön has together with the local energy company Dala Energy AB formed Biodal AB to invest and run a new 12 MW pellet and wood boiler facility, supplied by Belgian Vyncke. Vyncke is a 4 generation global family business with its roots in Belgium. Pellets will be supplied by Falu Energi och Vatten AB, 50 km away.
Project manager Per Brandes tells it has taken 1 year from start to finish. The dust emissions from the sawmill will as a result of the investment decrease from 250 mg/Nm3 to less than 20 mg/Nm3. An new electrostatic filter is the explanation. The total investment is 35 MSek (3,8 M€) and the produced heat will be used in a drying kiln at the sawmill and also supplied for district heating.
