Stora Enso Wood Pellets from Imavere mill receives SBP certificate

Imavere mill receives SBP certificate Imavare Mill has received SBP – Sustainable Biomass Partnership certificate for its pellet production.  The first Stora Enso mill that was granted the SBP certificate was Näpi mill in July 2016, and also Nebolchi mill is currently finalising its certification. SBP certification is a tool, which has been developed for the biomass energy sector. It helps the biomass sector to verify sustainable origin of wood and the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in the biomass supply chain.

Stora Enso has pellet production in Sweden, Estonia, Russia and in the Check Republic.  The largest plants are those in Gruvön, Sweden and Imavere in Estonia with 100 000 t/y each. In Ala sawmill in Sweden the company is constructing a new mill with approximately the same capacity based on equipment moved from the closed pellet mill in Norrsundet also in Sweden.
