KMW Energi,  a part of KMW renewable and is a leading EPC contractor in the Nordic mid-size Biomass market with a reference list of more than 400 facilities. The company designs and builds customized heat- and electricity producing facilities (CHP) for a wide array of forestry and agricultural fuels. With the recent merger with EcoEnergy Scandinavia, KMW Energi’s product platform is also expanded into waste fuels. Manufacturing of the units are done by third part to further increase international competivenes.

KMW Renewable AB was formed  2012 to gather all GKL Growth Capitals activities in the energy sector. KMW Energi and EcoEnergy (waste combustion) now formes a united structure.

The company’s biomass facilities can operate on a wide range of fuel types with intact and guaranteed availability. Depending on the clients desired facility size and local fuel mix the facility can be fitted with either a grate technology or with a bubbling fluidized bed technology. KMW can deliver facilities with a total output of up to 80 MW. The KMW Biomass facilities are adapted to the clients local energy need. Combined Heat and Power (CHP), Heating (or Cooling) only or Power only are available configurations.

The company’s WTE facilities enables incineration of unsorted municipal solid waste (MSW) as well as industrial waste. Thereby providing an environmentally sound alternative to land filling. The KMW WTE facilities are adapted to the clients local energy need. Combined Heat and Power (CHP), Heating (or Cooling) only or Power only are available configurations.

KMW can deliver its products in the form of a turn key EPC facility or in the form of selected components.

Grate and BFB Technology


KMW’s own proven grate based technology for biomass incineration have many operatioal referenses and is continuesly being developed in order to achieve better performance. The combustion chamber is designed to handla biomass based fuel with humidity levels from 10 to 60% – for example wood residues, saw mill residues, wood chips, peat as well as wood based waste products. The grate technology enables a wide fuel flexibility while maintaining its high level of availability.

BFB plants are uncomplicated to operate. They can operate automatically with inspections only every third day. This makes BFB plants to a cost-effective alternative for biomass-fired CHP plants up to a size of 100MW. KMW offers BFB boilers up to 80MW.
